Movement and Performance
Saturday, 28 March, 2015 to Sunday, 29 March, 2015, 16:30 - 12:00
Antonina Sheina worked as a classically trained actor in the repertory company Malaya Bronnaya Theatre in Moscow. In 2008 Antonina moved to Derry and joined Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company as an ensemble member. While working in Moscow she also developed a deep interest in movement practice, particularly contact improvisation and movement improvisation in performance. As an actor Antonina found that our specific approach to movement, as dancers, in Echo Echo is very relevant, useful and important. Antonina decided to dedicate some time using her interest and knowledge in dance practice to look at some principles and practices used from a drama/theatre perspective.
The main focus of the workshop will be on the space in a very broad way. The workshop will play with some of those concepts.
- social space
- weather system
- time(pauses/ empty spaces in movement and speech )
- different textures
- inner and outer
The workshop will look at how movement affects the space and emotional state and vice versa.
The workshop is aimed at people who have done some acting before and are interested in developing their practice.
