Dementia NI is an independent membership organisation which is now registered and noticed as a charity. Dementia NI has been set up and led by people living with a diagnosis of Dementia.
The Empowerment groups have been set up in order to enable people living with a diagnosis of dementia to have their voices heard on issues that are important to them. Within the group environment members gain peer support from one another, friendship and understanding. Dementia NI also provided members with many opportunities to meet key, important figures who provide services, in doing so this ensures that we are engaging with the service providers. In doing this Dementia NI aims to influence policy and practice throughout Northern Ireland and to improve the lives of everyone living with a diagnosis of dementia.
Another important part of the Empowerment Groups is to raise awareness of dementia and to empower those living with a diagnosis of dementia.
The dementia NI Irvinestown Empowerment Group covers the Omagh and Fermanagh area. The group runs twice per month from 11-1pm in the Arc Healthy Living Centre. For more information on dates please contact Paula Canney on 07866881422 or firstname.lastname@example.org
